This quirt was executed entirely in natural horsehide over a wood core. Each string of horsehide was hand cut and beveled to 1/32nd of an inch. This painstaking braiding technique is traditional in Argentina and is called “fid work”. The fid is a specialized tool, similar to a thin awl, and is used to lift the strings for each pass. The leather popper is completely hand stitched with the same horsehide string. Sale price $15,900

This California style quirt has a 24-plait body and decorative buttons of natural calf rawhide. The interweaves are horse rawhide dyed with black walnut and onion skin. Sale price $6,500
